BNG remains involved as a financier of Máxima Medical Center (Máxima MC), which is investing €340 million in the healthcare of tomorrow. Supported by a €200 million financing package provided by Rabobank and ING, backed in part by the Dutch Healthcare Guarantee Fund (Waarborgfonds voor de Zorgsector), and €140 million of its own resources, the hospital is taking an important step in advancing innovative, sustainable and future-proof healthcare in the Brainport region. These investments will support the development of a modern healthcare landscape in which technology, digitalisation and patient-centred care play a central role.
The investments form the foundation for the implementation of Máxima MC’s Strategic Real Estate Plan. In Veldhoven, the hospital is developing a modern and sustainable main campus where healthcare, technology and data are increasingly integrated. At the same time, the Eindhoven location is being further developed into a future-oriented environment where healthcare, housing and community functions reinforce one another. Through these initiatives, Máxima MC is preparing for the region’s growing demand for healthcare services.
Alongside investments in its facilities, Máxima MC is placing a strong emphasis on healthcare innovation. Through initiatives such as remote patient monitoring, Heart Failure@Home, artificial intelligence applications and digital healthcare solutions, the hospital is increasingly organising care around patients’ daily lives. This approach enables more care to be delivered at home or digitally, while preserving hospital capacity for highly complex treatments.
Sustainability is also a key pillar of the hospital’s plans. The new development in Veldhoven will be fully gas-free and built in accordance with energy-efficient and circular design principles. Máxima MC is also investing in sustainable energy generation, including thermal energy storage systems and solar carports. The hospital aims to generate at least 50% of its own energy demand by 2030.
BNG finances public-interest facilities that contribute to an accessible, affordable and future-proof Netherlands. Máxima MC’s ambitions align closely with this mission. As an existing lender, BNG supports the development of a healthcare infrastructure that will continue to meet the needs of patients, healthcare professionals and the region in the long term. While BNG has not participated in the new financing arrangement, it remains involved with Máxima MC through its existing loan portfolio and participation in the credit documentation.
Through these investments, Máxima MC is further strengthening a healthcare infrastructure that is ready to meet future challenges and serve the more than one million residents of the Brainport region.
