The Association of Austrian Regional Mortgage Banks, founded on 9 June 1947, celebrated its 75th anniversary at the invitation of its member institution Austrian Anadi Bank AG during this year's General Assembly at Werzers Hotel Resort Pörtschach in Carinthia. At the festive event, Board Director Dr. Udo Birkner, the acting President of the Association, was able to welcome, among others, numerous guests of honour from federal and provincial politics, the supervisory authorities FMA and OeNB, the interest group of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, as well as institutions such as the EAPB (European Association of Public Bank).
In his speech, Dr. Birkner pointed out the importance of the regionally active Landes-Hypothekenbanken as reliable partners for the economy and the population. The proximity to the customers as well as the trust and understanding for the economy built up over decades have made it possible to successfully lead numerous companies through the Covid19-related crisis. With an aggregated balance sheet total of about EUR 55 billion, own funds of about EUR 3.872 billion and 2,890 employees, the member institutions of the association have a market share of 8% in Austria.
During the evening event, Dr. Claus Fischer-See, acting Managing Director of the Association of Regional Mortgage Banks and Secretary General of the Association of Austrian Regional Mortgage Banks until 31 March 2022, and Mag. Helmut Praniess, for many years Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Salzburger Landes-Hypothekenbank AG, were awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour of the Republic of Austria and the Golden Decoration of Honour of the Republic of Austria, respectively, in recognition of their services to the Republic of Austria, by the Federal President Dr. Alexander van der Bellen, by the Member of the National Council Mr. Peter Weidinger.
