Since its foundation, the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF) has committed its capital to five investments. Their cumulative economic effect will reach EUR 6 billion, as confirmed in the presidential declaration summarizing the 8th Three Seas Summit in Bucharest (September 6-7).
This presidential event in the Romanian capital was also attended by the representatives of governments, parliaments and development banks of the countries that are members of the Three Seas Initiative. The purpose of the meeting was to set plans for the coming year. Energy security and strengthening the economic resilience of the Three Seas against the war in Ukraine were among the topics discussed. During this year's summit, the decision was made to add a new member state - Greece.
The Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund is the economic dimension of the Three Seas Initiative. The goal of this venture, initiated by BGK, is to make investments in the areas of transport, energy and digitalization that will improve connectivity along Europe's north-south axis.
"The fund has so far invested in projects in such areas as renewable energy (Enery, R. Power), rail transportation (Cargounit), infrastructure (Port of Burgas) or data centers (Greenergy). The cumulative economic effect of these projects is EUR 6 billion. This is a huge amount of money which shows the economic potential of the entire Three Seas region. In recent years, the fund has analyzed nearly 300 projects, which also confirms the still high demand for investments in infrastructure, energy and digital" - said Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, president of BGK and Ambassador – the President’s special representative for the Three Seas Initiative, who was also part of the presidential delegation at the event.
