Kommuninvest / Funding forecast for 2024: SEK 130-150 billion
18 December 2023Kommuninvest has set the funding forecast for 2024. The long-term funding (maturities longer than one year) is expected to be SEK 130-150 billion. Funding will, depending on market conditions, be conducted in Kommuninvest’s strategic markets: SEK, USD and EUR. We anticipate continued growth in the green lending and a good potential for green issuance 2024.
– Most municipalities and regions are facing deteriorating economic conditions because of the higher interest rate environment. This is affecting potential investments and therefore, lending is expected to grow at a relatively slow pace next year, similar to 2023. As always with prognoses it comes with uncertainty. On one hand, the macro-economic development could lead to a weakening of cashflows for the local governments which could result in higher demand of funds from our clients. On the other hand, the sector has built up a surplus and the construction companies are entering next year with a lower investment pace which could lead to a lower-than-expected lending growth, says Tobias Landström, Deputy head of Debt Management at Kommuninvest.
